Maintaining a clean, dust free environment on site is a vital step in reducing the amount of lead dust that could be potentially transported into the community. To assist employees maintain a clean environment a simplified auditing system with the aim of ensuring site cleanliness is being progressively rolled out smelter-wide. The system works by having an auditor check on various areas around a particular plant which they can classify as either acceptable or unacceptable and if an area was deemed unacceptable, it was cleaned immediately. A separate auditing system, looking specifically at the standard of roads, is soon to be rolled out.
